How to Make Ice Cream in a Blender with Milk: 15 Steps

Ingredients:

1/4 cup milk

2 cups ice cubes

4 tbsp sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

The Blending Experience:

I still remember how excited my mother was when I was a child to buy a homemade ice cream maker and make ice cream from scratch. It quickly became a fun treat for special occasions. Now that I’m an adult—and traditional ice cream makers have lost some of their appeal—I’ve wanted to find an even faster, easier way to make homemade ice cream.

This simple recipe requires just four ingredients that are likely already in your kitchen. It’s a fun, budget-friendly treat that can save you both the time and gas it takes to run out for ice cream.

First, I added ice to the blender and blended it on low until it was broken into small pieces. Then, I added the sugar, vanilla extract, and milk, blending on low for another three minutes until the mixture was smooth and creamy, like a milkshake. Once everything was fully combined, I poured the mixture into a lidded, plastic container and placed it in the freezer for two hours.

I’m not sure why, but my ice cream turned out more like a vanilla slushie than creamy vanilla ice cream. It was still delicious and a huge hit with my son—just not what I was expecting. I may try it again and blend the ice and ingredients a little longer next time.
