The Cooking Experience:
I was thrilled at the prospect of finally making my first scones. Unlike other pastries, scones don’t require the dough to rise, which was a relief given my past struggles with rising dough. I once attempted to make my own clotted cream, and it was a complete disaster, so I opted to purchase clotted cream from Amazon for my scones.
I had a recipe ready from Teatime at Grovenor Square (An Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Bridgerton) by Dahlia Clearwater, and I anticipated that it would be straightforward to follow. Fortunately, I encountered no issues while baking the scones. For the dry ingredients in step 2, I used a sieve, as I find it helps mix the dry ingredients more effectively with the wet ones.
I thought I had found a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, but as you can see in the picture below, my scones turned out quite small. Next time, I plan to use the next size up from my biscuit cutter set. Despite their adorable miniature size, my scones turned out perfectly and tasted delightful. Next time I bake them, I’ll be sure to try them with my favorite jellies!
