The first book in this series was truly an emotional roller coaster. The characters were so relatable and vividly drawn that I felt the sting of their deaths as if they were real, living people. This left me grappling with an internal conflict: the pain of their losses was profound, yet I was eager to discover what happened next.
The romantic relationship between Kira and Will was both beautiful and tragic, reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet. You couldn’t help but root for them, even when the odds were stacked against them. I also appreciated how the story wove in elements of Christianity within the dystopian genre. This added depth, capturing the emotional turmoil and internal struggles of someone whose world has been turned upside down, as they seek to uncover the truth behind the system they had believed in their entire lives.
The ending did not disappoint, leaving me anxious to dive into the next installment as the characters embark on a new adventure to unearth more hidden secrets and lies beyond Vita Nova and the Unregulated Zone into the unknown lands stretched out before them.
